At lunch one of my beliefs was laughed at. It made me
uncomfortable. I don’t think being uncomfortable is a bad thing necessarily –
especially when it comes to a belief. We need those challenged so that we can
make sure that we are following correctly. Yes, I do believe that there is
truth in case you were wondering.
I said that I didn’t feel comfortable leading a mixed Bible
study. I do believe that women shouldn’t teach men. That is a black and white
statement in the Bible. Of course, I’ve read commentaries on why it isn’t so
black and white. I’ve read those commentaries and considered them. I won’t hold
anyone else feet to the fire over this but for me, I don’t want to teach a
man in a regular Bible study.
However having my belief chuckled at . . . it stung a
little. I’m hoping that I’ll remember that sting and be more, what is the word, I will not belittle someone in any way. I’ll be more sensitive and try to
gently talk through whatever it is. This way it is educational for everyone
involved.
Father please help me remember this lesson today.
