On this day the Lord has made . . .

As I was driving home from the grocery store I heard a man on the radio ask what we were leaving our children/grandchildren. He mentioned how he would choose, over any amount of money, the writings from his grandfather . . . if he had left any.

So, I have determined to create a diary/journal of what happened to me on this day(s) the Lord has granted me.

this isn't Facebook

I am not supposed to upload the pictures of Lindsay and Kyler to Facebook. Well, this isn't Facebook!

This picture is one of my favorites. She is beautiful and she is a wonderful Momma.

This was a busy weekend.

Friday night was Christians 11th birthday party. Michael and Mary had a houseful of kids and adults and I thought the party went really well. They have a pretty small house and we were all worried that this many people would make us all miserable - but I wasn't and the kids seemed to be having a blast.

Christian got some good gifts and was really reveling in having his friends there. There were no tears and everyone was playing well together. I was afraid Wyatt would be upset at having to come to my house instead of staying for the sleep-over but he kept reminding me to not leave without him. :)

Saturday Wyatt and I dropped off some food at the church for a funeral dinner. Talk about a lot of people!!! The parking garage is never full but I went almost to the top level before I was able to find a parking spot. I don't know the person or the family but I do know that he was loved and respected.

After dropping the food off we drove to the West Bottoms to meet Mark and Courtney for a photo shoot. Mark had graciously offered to take pictures of the kids and the adults if I could talk the adults into it. He did a great job. I haven't seen the pictures yet but just watching the pictures evolve . . . I'm quite excited to see the results.

Sunday Wyatt and I headed into church. Wy was excited to be going to the late service. That meant he could go to Children's Services. They were having a Halloween party and that made things even more exciting. During the main service they have the children come down to the front for a mini-service. Wyatt did a great job. Every since he almost pulled the communion down on top of himself I've been a little worried when he goes up to the front.

This time I was worried because the woman brought out three lunch bags. The first one was a dirt sandwich and muddy water. The second was a can of coke and candy and the third lunch bag was a peanut butter sandwich and an apple. Well, I should give you a little background right now. Wyatt has been lecturing me on being fat. He is always talking about fat people. I know I've mentioned how I've tried to get him to say 'round' . . . it isn't working. He is really worried about fat. So, when she started talking about food I just knew Wyatt was going to say something about fat. I was sweating. He didn't though. The only thing he said about me was when the lady was asking about nice things we can bring to our mind. She mentioned giving thanks, and helping others and listening to your parents. Wyatt held up his hand and said, "And listen to your Grandma too." Yes, my heart melted.

It has been a wonderful weekend with beautiful weather. I'm spending my evening watching a little television and doing some laundry. Right now, as I type this, Scout is on the bed behind me and Harriet is curled up on my sweater. I am so very blessed. Thank you God!

Prayer List

  • Thank you Father thank you.
  • Lord, extend the kingdom of your Son.
  • O Merciful God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor desirest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; Have mercy upon all who know thee not as thou are revealed in the Gospel of thy Son. Take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord to thy fold, that they may be one flock under one shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
  • God please take the blinders from my children's heart and eyes. Please give them the gift of faith. Lord God, faith in you is so comforting and brings so much joy. Thank you!
  • God please bless Michael, Lindsay, and their families with faith, wisdom, and compassion. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • God thank you for the gift of my co-workers who have shown me that it is good to show that I am a Christian.
