Colossians 2:16 - Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
As I was reading more on the website where I pulled the verse from (after googling) I came across a whole lot more information - more in depth information. http://bible.cc/colossians/2-16.htm
Mark 2:27 Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Mark 7:19 For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")
Romans 14:3 The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him.
Romans 14:5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
I just L O V E reading and learning and discovering all the layers and love and wisdom contained in this one little book.
As someone who used to be such an avid reader - now all I read basically is the Bible. Everytime I open this book something else opens up.
With this new Bible there is an opening paragraph before each chapter of the Bible. For Colossians it has this opener:
"Paul's purpose is to show that Christ is preeminent-first and foremost in everything - and the Christian's life should reflect that priority. Because believers are rooted in Him, alive in Him, hidden in Him, and complete in Him, it is utterly inconsistent for them to live life without Him. Clothed in His love, with His peace ruling in their hearts, they are equipped to make Christ first in every area of life."
