On this day the Lord has made . . .

As I was driving home from the grocery store I heard a man on the radio ask what we were leaving our children/grandchildren. He mentioned how he would choose, over any amount of money, the writings from his grandfather . . . if he had left any.

So, I have determined to create a diary/journal of what happened to me on this day(s) the Lord has granted me.

God honoring Christian

A God honoring Christian loves God's word  . . . John MacArthur is speaking on this right now on the radio. That sentence, A God honoring Christian loves God's word, helps solidify what has been bothering me lately.

A little history: The other day on Facebook an acquaintance (who stated that he wasn't big into this spiritual stuff) asked why Christians are saying that homosexuality is okay when it so does NOT say that in the bible. I heard his confusion and I tried to answer him but I couldn't even make sense of it in my own head to be honest with you. Make sense of how these christians are saying the bible is wrong and the world is correct.

To make matters worse - two people who I thought loved our God started talking to me about how many ways the bible is stupid and how they think that this (this being what they think) is the way it really was. (Of course the most confusing part is that they still think they love God - even though His word is stupid in their minds.) I'm not saying they aren't Christians either. We are all on different paths on our walk but I do hope they wake up soon so they don't continue to confuse people and lead them astray.

The words of the Bible can be hard to understand. I mean it does say that we aren't to eat shellfish, etc., but now we do eat shellfish. But this example just shows why we need to continue learning, searching, hearing . . . because then you learn the whole story. You will learn that levitical laws (like the shellfish requirement) are in the past but moral laws (like sexual sins) don't pass.

We need to stay in God's word, the Bible, and we need to lean on other more learned people than ourselves to see the bigger picture all the while praying for discernment and wisdom. The Bible plainly states that if we ask we will be granted wisdom freely. The Holy Spirit will help our understanding. Pretty amazing if you allow God to work in your life so His kingdom can grow.

Prayer List

  • Thank you Father thank you.
  • Lord, extend the kingdom of your Son.
  • O Merciful God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor desirest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; Have mercy upon all who know thee not as thou are revealed in the Gospel of thy Son. Take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord to thy fold, that they may be one flock under one shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
  • God please take the blinders from my children's heart and eyes. Please give them the gift of faith. Lord God, faith in you is so comforting and brings so much joy. Thank you!
  • God please bless Michael, Lindsay, and their families with faith, wisdom, and compassion. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • God thank you for the gift of my co-workers who have shown me that it is good to show that I am a Christian.
