Last Sunday at Trinity Anglican Parish, we talked about something I think you would have been interested in.
You know how parents provide experiences so that a child can learn how to navigate through life and develop? Well God does the same for us so that we can develop our spirit.
The long sweep of history shows this evidence of how human spirituality has grown.
You mentioned that when Christ came into being that there were other religions and you hinted that some of what is included in Christianity was included in other religions.
God has lead us through ascending levels of spiritual progress - just like we do our children.
Christ didn't come to give religion to a world which had no religion.
Jesus Christ is God's supreme revelation of Himself.
The Bible is the record of Christ as the Word of God. It is the record of progressive revelation which reaches its summit in Christ.
By our own nature we know instinctively that there is God. By revelation, He opens our eyes and manifest Himself to us. All we have to do is invite Him into our lives.
This study I am going through at church is helping me flesh out answers to questions various people have been asking me - or I've been asking myself.
What I've found is that if I stay immersed in His Word, and in worship, that my relationship with Him continually grows and He is transforming me now. He doesn't wait until after we die to transform us.
We are given everlasting life through the Grace of God and the Holy Spirit is given to us while we are here on Earth and Jesus Christ Himself is the intercessor for us in Heaven.
God not only created us but He continually cares for us.
I hope this explains some things. I'm sorry I had to write it and borrow words from the lesson. Nah, I'm not sorry. That's what lessons are for - to illuminate.
I love you. :)
Faith and Practice by Frank E. Wilson is the book I mentioned
Reverend Canon Forrest Burgett is the leader of the class, and our church, and I borrowed many of the thoughts he brought to us during class.
