I had a heck of a day today. It started off well enough. I woke up and read through morning prayers (my favorite time of the day) and then got ready and headed into work. Work was going well until I got an email about a post made by a fellow bible study friend.
He is deep into IHOP, which I consider an errant cult, and he posted onto our bible study blog a bunch of links. One link was okay, it was a worship song by a popular singer but the rest were all 'prophesy' and I don't mean prophesy from the Bible but 'prophesy' from a bunch of people. He's posted stuff like this before but not on our blog.
I had to tell him and I knew I had to tell him gently. The problem with it was that I was screaming inside. Which makes it hard to be gentle. I finally got it all said to him and was able to get back to work. I promised him that I would listen to what he posted. I had heard one of them before. The other is from the 1980's and two dealt with the blood moons. I listened to them tonight. Now I am full of fear and I hate how they tell half truths and, yes, these people are good story tellers.
The bible says over and over to avoid false prophets and that there will be deceivers.
The thing is, I don't need new prophecy. The Bible tells us plainly that Christ is coming again to judge the earth. As a follower of Jesus, I know that He covers me. I know that He has redeemed me and all of His other followers. I don't need to be afraid of our Lord God. (Other than I will have to give an accounting of what I did with all that He gave me. Yes this does terrify me.)
How do I get my friend to understand this? How do I get my friend to focus on the gospel of our Lord instead of the fantasy that is spread by false prophets that keeps him from the good news of Christ?
I will pray.
The Book of Common Prayer has this prayer which fits:
ALMIGHTY God, who showest to them that are in error the light of thy truth, to the intent that they may return into the way of righteousness; Grant unto all those who are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's Religion, that they may avoid those things that are contrary to their profession, and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same; through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
On this day the Lord has made . . .
As I was driving home from the grocery store I heard a man on the radio ask what we were leaving our children/grandchildren. He mentioned how he would choose, over any amount of money, the writings from his grandfather . . . if he had left any.
So, I have determined to create a diary/journal of what happened to me on this day(s) the Lord has granted me.

Prayer List
- Thank you Father thank you.
- Lord, extend the kingdom of your Son.
- O Merciful God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor desirest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; Have mercy upon all who know thee not as thou are revealed in the Gospel of thy Son. Take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord to thy fold, that they may be one flock under one shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
- God please take the blinders from my children's heart and eyes. Please give them the gift of faith. Lord God, faith in you is so comforting and brings so much joy. Thank you!
- God please bless Michael, Lindsay, and their families with faith, wisdom, and compassion. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- God thank you for the gift of my co-workers who have shown me that it is good to show that I am a Christian. It is more than okay, it is imperative that my faith shows, so that others can come to know you. Please make me into a shining light for you. Give me the words, and your wisdom, and please don't let me cause anyone to stumble.
- God please be with my family/friends as they go through this time in their lives. Please give them strength and courage and wisdom and faith Lord.
- God please guide the leaders of the world.
- God please heal my children.
- Please heal those that have asked for prayer.
