Thoughts wander through my head as I draw these lines for
substations. I listen to music or scripture and draw away. Music brings back
memories.
Every time I hear the song Remember Me sung by Mark Schultz
I think of Greg Thogmartin. He was a good friend to me through school in
Princeton, and then when my brother Bobby was killed, Greg stayed up all night
with me at my house talking about Christ and heaven. Greg used to call me
Petey. J I just remembered that.
Such a blessing from God, friends are, and so are memories.
Greg married and had lots of children and became a Chaplain
in the military.
Child of God, raising children of God.
Blessings when people we love are happy and continue their
walk with God. I love that he and his wife are raising Godly children.
God has blessed me greatly with good people surrounding me.
Brings to mind that scripture about a crowd of witnesses.
People who have asked me to pray for them, and something
some of you may not know, but, even if you don’t know the people or the family
that you are praying for, praying for them makes them feel like family, even if
you haven’t met them.
Shortly after I began praying for people, especially the
people that I don’t know, it hit me that they may come up to me when we are in
heaven and thank me for remembering them in prayer. Have you ever considered
that? Pretty cool. Not that I’m wanting praise because all I did was raise them
up to God so that He could take care of them, but, to know that someone saw you
on the huge lonely planet and mentioned you to our Creator.
I wrote the note above quickly and posted it and continued on with my work. Lots of my blog posts are like that - just quick notes so that I won't forget. Well, it is 4 am and I am wide awake so I'm spending some time in prayer in my favorite prayer book. I came across the prayer I'm about to post and thought it related well to the note I jotted down this morning about praying for people you don't know.
I love God.
O LORD Jesus Christ, who ever liveth to make intercessions for us; Let thy mercy be extended to all those who have none upon earth to pray for them in thy Name, and bring them, for thine own sake, to a participation of thy grace upon earth, that they may praise thee with all thy saints in thine everlasting glory. Amen.
