I am going to have to start taking Good Friday off from now on. After attending the noon service at Community Christian Church, I’m so emotionally spent . . .
Charlotte was asking, as we walked out, what was the most moving part for you? There were so many that I didn’t have a great answer for her. I think the first thing that popped into my mind was when Dr. Hill said that we would now hear the sound that Jesus heard as Good Friday came to an end.
The silence was deafening.
You have to know that this church sits right on a busy street, right off of the Plaza. We were in the Bonfils Chapel, and we can always hear the street noise, but, the silence filled the air.
When we arrived Charlotte noticed that the Lord's Supper wasn't on the altar. I kind of shrugged her question off but then as they were shrouding the altar it dawned on me that there would be no Communion. After all, we were here remembering the day Christ died. On Friday, Christ left us.
Between the thought of Christ being gone, and the silence, the air was so heavy that it hurt. Even as I type this I hurt.
How can people not love Him? How can people not want to know Him?
