On this day the Lord has made . . .

As I was driving home from the grocery store I heard a man on the radio ask what we were leaving our children/grandchildren. He mentioned how he would choose, over any amount of money, the writings from his grandfather . . . if he had left any.

So, I have determined to create a diary/journal of what happened to me on this day(s) the Lord has granted me.

Kansas City

Tonight Courtney, Shannon and I went to First Fridays in the Crossroads District. We started out at Grinders ended up in Westport at Blaney's, Kelly's and Firefly.

Grinders was awesome. I loved the decor, the people and the food. I had a pastrami sandwich. Now I'm mad at myself for not having a pastrami sandwich my entire 50 years thus far. I've missed out on something!! The salad was great too. It had two medallions of fried goat cheese, spring salad, red onions, walnuts and sun dried tomato . . . I loved them both. I'll definitely go back as often as possible. I loved the decor and the people.

Blaney's was cool. There was a blues band playing and the drinks were good. I haven't mentioned the weather yet. Absolutely perfect weather. I think we had a high of 70 today and our night was as good as it gets.

Kelly's was fun. We sat and had one drink and talked and laughed and planned our Vegas trip. Shannon came up with a great idea of writing down all of our ideas and drawing them out and doing them one by one. Courtney came up with the idea of chinese checkers. Now, I had asked what the whole deal was about chinese checkers because I thought it was a boring game. Well, Miss Courtney said that we should go to a chinese restaurant and bring our checkers. I said, Chinese checkers? NO, we'll play checkers in a chinese restaurant. Pretty cool.

Firefly was an accidental find. I had read the review in the Pitch so I knew it was somewhere in Kansas City. I just didn't know where. Courtney had seen the sign pointing out a Fortune Teller. We were debating the merits of visiting her when I stumbled on a paper sign on a door leading down this long hall. I was sooooo excited I just told the girls to follow me and we walked into the neatest place - so comfortable. I had a French something or other. The reason I chose it was the absinthe. I can't say that I liked the drink but I can say that I've finally drunk absinthe!

Prayer List

  • Thank you Father thank you.
  • Lord, extend the kingdom of your Son.
  • O Merciful God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor desirest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; Have mercy upon all who know thee not as thou are revealed in the Gospel of thy Son. Take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord to thy fold, that they may be one flock under one shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
  • God please take the blinders from my children's heart and eyes. Please give them the gift of faith. Lord God, faith in you is so comforting and brings so much joy. Thank you!
  • God please bless Michael, Lindsay, and their families with faith, wisdom, and compassion. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • God thank you for the gift of my co-workers who have shown me that it is good to show that I am a Christian. It is more than okay, it is imperative that my faith shows, so that others can come to know you. Please make me into a shining light for you. Give me the words, and your wisdom, and please don't let me cause anyone to stumble.
  • God please be with my family/friends as they go through this time in their lives. Please give them strength and courage and wisdom and faith Lord.
