On this day the Lord has made . . .

As I was driving home from the grocery store I heard a man on the radio ask what we were leaving our children/grandchildren. He mentioned how he would choose, over any amount of money, the writings from his grandfather . . . if he had left any.

So, I have determined to create a diary/journal of what happened to me on this day(s) the Lord has granted me.

Thursday - stormy Thursday

Woke up to the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance. The house was cool and the sheets were soft . . . talk about making it tough to open my eyes at 6 am. Even though my next step would be into a warm bubble bath . . . I just couldn't quite make the move. My alarm went off finally and my favorite radio show comes on. I just tried looking it up so that I could name the preacher but I can't find it right now. He died in the 80's but he is still preaching via his recordings. He is wonderful in the way he makes the bible come alive. 92.3 fm Bott Radio Network is what my cell phone's alarm is set to.  I use a 'widget' on my android samsung vibrant mobile phone so that I can access the radio stations that play online. Pretty amazing all of the things our cell phones do for us.

After the bath I dress and head out to work. The girls (Scout and Harriet) always run ahead of me to the living room. Scout snuggles into her pillows on the couch and Harriet soon joins her. I get into my red chevy truck and open the garage door towards Burns & McDonnell on Holmes & 435. I love my job. I'm a draftsman working on electrical substations. I should be working now but I wanted to jot down a line about what's been going on in my world.

Lindsay sent me a picture of Kyler still asleep in their bed. She said he had a rough night because he is coming down with a cold so breathing is difficult for him. His daddy has a horrible cold. I imagine Lindsay isn't getting much sleep.

Mary called yesterday and told me about the boys eye appointment. Wyatt's eyes seem fine but Christian has been fitted for eyeglasses which will arrive in two weeks. Michael and I have been talking about getting Wyatt enrolled into football in Blue Springs. Hopefully that will happen this weekend.

I just got a call here at work. My new computer will be installed tomorrow here at work. I'm being assigned to work on a substation that we will design in 3D so they are upgrading my computer!!!! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time about 3D. I'm so directionally dyslexic . . . I'm the last person that should be working in 3D.

Today looks to be quite busy. I have a doctors appointment at 10 for two more shots in the knees. It is bible study over lunch hour and then a Bentley Substation meeting at 2 to talk about bringing that software into our organization. Add to all of this actual work - I need to get two substations entered into ProjectWise.

I love being busy!!!

Prayer List

  • Thank you Father thank you.
  • Lord, extend the kingdom of your Son.
  • O Merciful God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made, nor desirest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should be converted and live; Have mercy upon all who know thee not as thou are revealed in the Gospel of thy Son. Take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of thy Word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord to thy fold, that they may be one flock under one shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.
  • God please take the blinders from my children's heart and eyes. Please give them the gift of faith. Lord God, faith in you is so comforting and brings so much joy. Thank you!
  • God please bless Michael, Lindsay, and their families with faith, wisdom, and compassion. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • God thank you for the gift of my co-workers who have shown me that it is good to show that I am a Christian. It is more than okay, it is imperative that my faith shows, so that others can come to know you. Please make me into a shining light for you. Give me the words, and your wisdom, and please don't let me cause anyone to stumble.
  • God please be with my family/friends as they go through this time in their lives. Please give them strength and courage and wisdom and faith Lord.
  • God please guide the leaders of the world.
  • God please heal my children.
