I can't find the paper I wrote about the side effects of abortion. I found a small portion:
“Legal Abortion Threatens Health and Fertility: Why Aren’t Women Informed?” by Raymond J. Adamek. “Hush” is a documentary by Punam Kumar Gill who is a pro-choice feminist. She lists three major issues: “Does the risk of breast cancer increase for women who have one or more abortions? Does the risk of premature birth rise with abortion? Does abortion increase the risk of mental health problems?” (Adamek page 27) Adamek and Gill both note how researchers and doctors disagree on these issues. Gill wants them to come to a consensus so that women can know what to expect.
Dr. Adamek recites how many studies have been done regarding the breast cancer link. He lists “110 studies with 81 finding a link while 29 do not.” (Adamek page 27) To give us an idea of how important it is to discern this link he gives this statistic: “Breast cancer is the leading cause of death of women between the ages of 20 and 59.” (Adamek page 28)
“139 studies finding that induced abortion increases the risk of preterm birth and between 1980 and 2005 preterm birth rate increased by 43 percent.” (Adamek page 29) Induced abortion has always been associated with miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies and Adamek goes on to tell us that “ectopic pregnancies are always fatal for the unborn and if not detected in time they can be fatal for the woman.” (Adamek page 30) This article then gives the dissent for all of this research and of course this is what makes it into the media. Such an interesting article because Dr. Adamek gives us specific places where abortion rates are 40% for the black population and that state has the highest rates of infant death due to prematurity.
Dr. Adamek goes into the studies for mental health and gives us both sides of the research. Those results are similar to what was given to us for breast cancer link and for preterm births. Dr. Adamek gives us five motivations as to why professionals need to suppress the negative effects and they are chilling. In summary of those reasons he states that, “apparently they are willing to violate individual human rights for a perceived greater good.”
